Linda Lois Young, 76, of Oilton, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, December 3, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hillcrest Medical Center.
Linda was born April 28, 1941, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James “Plummer” and Veronia Mae (Turner) Younger. Linda moved with her parents to the Terlton area where she grew up and attended school. She later graduated from Terlton High School. Following graduation, Linda was united in marriage to James Leslie Young on December 24, 1958, in Terlton, Oklahoma. The couple established their first home at Oceanside, California at Camp Pendleton. In 1962, Linda and Jim returned to Oilton where they have continued to reside.
Linda enjoyed listening to country music. She especially loved growing flowers working in the garden and sharing her vegetables with all of her family and friends. Linda also enjoyed going camping as well as going places with her sister Wanda. The two also enjoyed every year making a spook house which was enjoyed by many of those in the community. Trips usually consisted going to see relatives which would sometimes involve a float trip down the Buffalo River. Linda attended for many years the Free Will Baptist Church in Oilton.
Survivors are her husband Jim of the home, two children Shelley Sherman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jimmie Young of Oilton, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Christina Rhotenberry, Baylee Sherman, Kasey Young, Ashley Henckel, Austin Young, Andi Clemens; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by an infant child James Jr., siblings Kenneth Younger, Dale Younger, Fred Younger and Wanda Cheary.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at the Yale First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Marty Younger officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Terlton Cemetery at a later date. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
