Funeral services for Linda Kay Northweather 68, of Cleveland will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary of the First Christian Church officiating will be Rev. David Head. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc
Linda K. Northweather was born November 17, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Ace and Kathryn (White) Parnell. Linda was raised and received her education in Cleveland. She graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1956. After high school Linda enrolled at they University of Oklahoma in Norman; where she receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Linda then accepted her first teaching position in California as a teacher. She later returned to Cleveland and gained employment with the Cleveland Public Schools in 1981. Mrs. Northweather began teaching first grade and later taught second grade. Linda continued to teach in the Cleveland School System until her retirement. While teaching at Cleveland she was honored as the Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Northweather loved to cook. Aside rrom cooking, Linda enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Linda always had an open door policy for the entire neighborhood. Mrs. Northweather was always available to handle her childrenÃs crises. She was a wonderful mother, teacher and friend to all. While attending the University of Oklahoma she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was also a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Linda was a hometown girl that accomplished a lot in her life, and gave back multitudes to her community.
Linda passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007, in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 11 months and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her father Ace Parnell and mother Kathryn Lear.
Surviving are her daughter, Julie Guinn and husband Dale of Cleveland, Oklahoma; son, Chris Huntsman of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Flint Sparks of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Dillon Sparks of Cleveland, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
