Leta Marie Cobb

Leta Marie Cobb, lifelong Hominy area resident, passed from this life and went to be with her Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the age of eighty-five. Leta was born April 17, 1925 in Springfield, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Eli and Nellie (Watts) Martin. She moved with her family at an early age to Hominy where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Hominy High School in 1943. Leta met the love of her life, John ìPatî Cobb, Jr. while he was attending Oklahoma A&M pursing a degree in agriculture. The couple was later united in marriage on July 23, 1946 in Hominy, Oklahoma at the First Christian Church. They established their initial home near Wynona on the Pitts Place. Pat and Leta later purchased the Falls where they raised their daughter Ronda. Pat and Leta operated his cattle business side by side for many years and they remained at the Falls until 1972 when they purchased some additional property six miles Northwest of Hominy. In addition to maintaining the family home, Leta served as the bookkeeper for their cattle business throughout its operation. They continued to operate the farm until 2008 when they sold the remainder of the cattle operation. Pat preceded Leta in death on July 20. 2009. Leta dedicated her life to providing a beautiful home for her husband and daughter. In addition to maintaining the books for the family business she raised chickens for many years providing eggs for produce markets in the Hominy and Wynona area. Leta was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed preparing meals for family reunions. She always maintained a beautiful flower garden and also loved sewing and making blankets. Leta was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her battle with Alzheimer's prohibited her attendance. She was also a volunteer for many years for the Osage County Election Board. Leta was described by her family as a loving and kind woman who was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, Leta was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Joel Brothers; a brother, Uless Martin and a sister, Dicy Massey. She is survived by her grandson, Scott Brothers of Tulsa, Oklahoma and numerous other family and friends.
