Lenard H. Fox was born February 16, 1920 at home, near Ralston, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jess William and Sarah Margaret (Crider) Fox. Lenard received his education at Hominy, Shinewell, Section 8 and the High Grove School in Oklahoma.

As a young man, Lenard worked in the oilfields of northeastern Oklahoma. He was married to Louise Allen on February 16, 1942. Later that year, he was inducted into the service of his country in the United States Army. During his service in World War II, Lenard was awarded the Purple Heart while serving with the 90th Division of the 358th Infantry.

Upon his honorable discharge, Lenard returned home where he farmed for several years. Louise and Lenard had four daughters, Gayle, Linda, Mary and Betty and raised them in the Cleveland area. Lenard later accepted employment with National Tank in Sand Springs and then with T. H. Rogers in Cleveland for a while. He was then employed by the State of Oklahoma, Highway Department until his retirement in 1983. Louise preceded him in death on October 15, 1996.

On April 18, 1998, he was married to Margaret Fields-Moore in Clinton, Missouri. Over their almost 20 years of marriage, they split their time between his home in Cleveland and her home at Kidder, Missouri. During their time in Cleveland, they enjoyed eating at the Hickory House, where they had many close friends. Lenard was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hallett, Oklahoma.

Lenard passed on March 26, 2018 at the age of 98 at his home in Kidder, Missouri.

Lenard is survived by his wife Margaret Fox of the home; two daughters: Mary Haney of Miami, Oklahoma and Betty Reed of Winchester, Kentucky; nine grandchildren: David Lynn Smith, Donna Montgomery, Cheryl Stites, Tim Travis, Janet Dominguez, Charles Haney, Steven Moler, Melissa Hoisington and Joshua Gallagher; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise; two daughters: Gayle Smith and Linda Travis; his parents, three brothers: Riley Fox, Eugene Fox and Warner Fox and three sisters: Eunie Fox, Juanita Fox Garrett and Pauline Miller.
Services for Lenard will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 – 10:00 am at Chapman-Black Funeral Home, interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018 from 10:00am – 5:00pm. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
