Leila M Kingston

Leila M. Kingston passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, and twelve days. Leila was born July 26, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ernest C. and Iva Mae (Phy) Petersen. As a young girl Leila grew up in Tulsa. She attended Will Rogers High School. Following the completion of her education, Leila was united in marriage to Jonas Clarence McGrew on May 20, 1950. The couple established in Fort Polk, Louisiana. They resided in many different places and to that union there are three children, John, Jack and Raymond. Leila was later united in marriage to Joseph R. Browne, Jr. on October 9, 1960. The made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma until 1969, when they moved to Terlton, Oklahoma and to that union there are two children Terry and Marilyn. On June 22, 1985, Leila was united in marriage to Eugene Kingston. They initially moved to Hennessey, Oklahoma before returning to the Cleveland area in 1987. Leila worked at several places throughout her life. During the time her children were young she took in ironing as well as baby sitting children. She also worked cleaning new homes after construction. Leila was employed at Tank and Tummy for several years as well. Later in life following the death of her husband Gene, Leila began working as a nurse. She was highly effective as a hospice nurse knowing exactly what her clients were going thru because she was there once herself. She trained many of the staff that was ultimately taking care of her needs before her death. Leila worked many years for Sojourn Hospice that is currently Rose Rock Hospice. Leila loved to do crafts. She would spend many hours and days making gifts for Christmas and birthdays for her family and friends. Leila also loved helping people in need and always had an open door policy for those in need. Leila loved to travel as well as enjoyed going on short trips. Christmas time was a time Leila fully enjoyed. Always putting the wrong names on gifts as well as giving everyone a ìChristmas Ballî. Survivors are her children, John McGrew and his wife Patti of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jack McGrew and his wife Kay of Jennings, Oklahoma, Ray McGrew and his wife Donna of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Terry Browne of Terlton, Oklahoma, Marilyn ìMickiî Braden and her husband Jeffrey of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister in law Patricia Petersen of St. Louis, Missouri; two nephews Chris Petersen of St. Louis, Missouri, Patrick Petersen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren Bill McGrew, John McGrew, Jr., Candace McGrew, Wendy Mullin, Valerie Raney, Michael McGrew, Nathan McGrew, Amber McGrew, Deuce McGrew, Terry Don Browne, Len Browne, Anthony Braden, Caitlin Braden, Emily Braden, twenty six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert C. Petersen and husband Eugene Kingston. Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
