Larry William Gulley

Larry William Gulley passed from this world on Thursday, July 18, 2013 to be with his Lord and Savior at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of sixty-one. Larry was born on April 12, 1952 in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was the son of Lewin and Laurina (Robinson) Gulley. He moved with his family at an early age to Tulsa and then attended high school at Central High School where he graduated with the Class of 1971. Upon completion of his education, Larry accepted employment with Wheatly Valve in Tulsa. He was united in marriage on February 4, 1972 to Sherryl Dawson; to this union was born one son, Michael Larry Gulley. The couple made their initial home in Cleveland and continued to reside here throughout their marriage. After his short time with Wheatly Valve, Larry then went to work building the fountain in front of the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa. Because he did not enjoy the drive to Tulsa or working in Tulsa, Larry then accepted employment driving a truck for T. H. Rogers Lumber in Cleveland, Oklahoma for a few years. He then worked as a machine press operator for Riverside Industries and as a welder for the Murray-Womble Company. In 2004, Larry accepted a position with Fiber Glass Systems in Sand Springs working as a deflasher and sand blaster. He has continued to work in that capacity until the time of his death. Larry loved fishing, camping, vacationing, playing the guitar and watching the history channel. He loved his family very much and was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in August. Larry accepted Christ as his personal savior many years ago and was a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church although he was currently attending the First Christian Church in Cleveland. He was described by his family and friends as a quiet, loving and patient man who truly loved his family. He was a gifted musician and was also described as being extremely persistent; accomplishing everything he set his mind too. Larry leaves behind his wife, Sherryl of the home in Cleveland, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Elnora Dawson, also of the home; son and his wife, Michael Larry and his wife, Amy Gulley of Terlton, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Shelby Cheyenne and Toby Michael Gulley of Terlton, Oklahoma; a great-granddaughter, Ariel Dawn Anderson to be born in August; his mother, Laurina Gulley-Dickerson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Wayne Gulley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Loretta Creamer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Danny and his wife Jean Dawson; two nieces, Meghan and her husband Trevis Kahle and Dani Jo Dawson of Cleveland, Oklahoma; nephew, Bryan and his wife, Amanda Shook and great neice Ashlyn Shook, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewin Gulley; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Gulley of Stigler, Okahoma, Mr. and Mrs Snoden Robinson of Stigler, Okahoma; father-in-law, Elmer Dawson of Clevleand, Oklahoma and a step-father, George Dickerson of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
