Larry Don Lucas

Larry Don Lucas known to all of his friends and family as Donnie passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years, six months and eighteen days. Donnie was born April 2, 1949, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was the son of Curtis C. and Norma Jane (Pope) Lucas. As a young boy Donnie grew up and began his education in Cleveland and later graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1968. During his time in high school Donnie was very active in the Future Farmers of America. Following high school Donnie was united in marriage to Katy Faye Conner in Noblesville, Indiana on September 13, 1968. Following their union the two established their home in Cleveland where they raised their two children Misty and Brandon. Donnie worked for Wheatley at the Port of Catoosa for several years before gaining employment with Nadel and Gussman. Donnie has worked in all phases of the oil industry before he retired in April of 2010 after 29 years with Nadel and Gussman. Following the death of his wife Katy; Donnie and Charlotte Conner became soul mates in August of 2009. Donnie loved being outside. He lived and breathed hunting, fishing and camping. Starting in March every year he would camp at Washington Irving South until they closed the facility for the year. Donnie also loved to play pool and joined many leagues throughout the years. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms and arrowheads. Most of all in life Donnie always loved being around his family and friends enjoying life. Survivors are his two loving children Misty Ray and her husband Chad of Hominy, Oklahoma, Brandon Lucas and his wife Christi of Cleveland, Oklahoma; soul mate Charlotte Conner of the home; one brother Merle Lucas of Jennings, Oklahoma; one sister Nicki Rogers and her husband Mike of Jennings, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren Jimmy, Wyatt, Bobby, Chase, Taylor, Trey, Justice and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by his wife Katy Lucas, brother Curtis James Lucas and nephew Jimmy Dean Lucas. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Kilpatrick, Marty Horton, Jim Dickson, Shawn Kilpatrick, Ricky McCullough and Bubby Tarkington. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery with John Brown officiating. Burial in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery will be under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
