Larry Dean Evans, 49, of Coweta, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the SouthCrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Larry was born February 6, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the son of Tommy and Connie Louise (Rupe) Evans. Larry was raised in Tulsa and began attending school at John Ross Elementary. He then later attended the Lewis Clark Junior High and graduated from East Central High School with the Class of 1979. During the time Larry was growing up he was very active in sports. He played basketball, football as well as baseball. Larry excelled in the area of baseball and was on several championship teams. Larry was highly recruited by many colleges as well as the Philadelphia Phillies out of high school. Larry chose to enter college and began playing at Seminole Junior College. He also played at Murray State, Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. Larry was awarded many awards during his playing career and was the leading junior college homerun hitter in the nation. In 1984, Larry graduated from Phillips University with a degree in education. Following his graduation Larry gained employment with J.D. Young Company specializing in streamlining your business processes with document technologies. Larry later accepted a position with WilTel. On January 10, 1992, Larry was united in marriage to Debra Jo (Stanton). The couple made their initial home in Tulsa and were residing in Coweta at the time of his death. Larry has continued to work in the telecommunications business for many years and was currently employed with WindStream as an account executive. Larry was a man with a big heart. He loved being around people and lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for golf and baseball which were some of his favorite pastimes. Larry always saw the good in people without passing judgment. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow and firm believer in Christ. Survivors are his loving wife Debbie of the home, one son Blaine Evans of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, parents Tommy and Connie Evans of Collinsville, Oklahoma, one brother Terry Evans of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two aunts Carolyn Rogers of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jo Catherine of Claremore, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents J.T. Evans, Leona Miller and Cecil and Wilma Rupe. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Broken Arrow with Pastor David Cloeter officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
