Funeral services for Larry Don Brown will be held Monday, December 19, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Larry was born September 20, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Carl Victor and Anna Belle (Willhite) Brown. As a young man Larry grew up in the Coffeyville, Kansas area; he later graduated in 1966 from Coffeyville High School. Soon after graduation Larry entered into the service of his country. He joined the United States Navy and was stationed in California. Larry went through his initial training and was also trained as one of the NavyÃs Elite Force a Navy SEAL. He served time during the Vietnam War and was later discharged. Upon his return Larry established his home in California.
Larry later returned to Coffeyville in the early 1970Ãs. He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Likens in Dewey, Oklahoma on August 22, 1975. Larry and Janice established their home in Dewey, Oklahoma. While living in Dewey Larry was employed with P and S Engineering in Bartlesville as a machinist. He remained working for P and S for several years before returning to school to become a Scrub Nurse. After Larry finished his certification he worked in Coffeyville for a short time.
In 1981 Larry pursued a calling of the Lord. Larry entered into the ministry field; his first church to pastor at was in Welch, Oklahoma the Welch First United Methodist Church. Larry and Janice moved to several different churches between 1981 till 1988. In 1992 Larry was the Pastor in Drumright at the First Assembly of God Church. In 1994 Larry and Janice moved to Cleveland and retired from actively preaching. At that time Larry gained employment with Aero Duct in Tulsa returning to his trade as a machinist.
LarryÃs health began to fail in 1994. After working in Tulsa, Larry started a machine shop in Cleveland. As his health continued to fail his son Eric began helping him in the daily operations of the shop. In 1999 Larry retired as his health continued to fail.
Larry was an active and loyal member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland. Larry loved spending time at home with his family, watching Bishop T.D. Jakes, and researching and writing about the gospel.
Larry went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, December 16, 2005 at the age of 57 years 2 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Vickie.
Survived by his loving wife of over 30 years Janice of the home; four sons, Sean Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Eric Brown and his wife Clara of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Jeremy Brown and his wife Michelle of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Josh Brown and Ashleigh of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother, Carl Brown of Oklahoma; three sisters, Joyce, Kathy, and Janie, all of Oklahoma as well as numerous other relatives and friends
