Funeral services for Kenneth Whited will be held Wednesday March 17, 2004 at 2:00 pm at The First Baptist Church in Hominy with officiated by Rev. David Downing and Rev. Paul Kersh burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Kenneth a long time resident of Hominy was born February 13, 1929 in Osage County between Wynona and Hominy to Farris Sigmond and Lillie Mae (Kendrick) Whited. Kenneth grew up and attended school in Wynona as well as Nelogany. The family soon moved to Eastern Colorado near Cheyenne Wells where they operated a 3, 000 acre farm. While working on the farm at the age of 17 Kenneth lost his arm in an accident. Shortly after his accident he attended auctioneer school. Not enjoying the job of an auctioneer he returned to the Mound Valley Area and was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth (Powell) on March 1, 1950 in Wynona, Oklahoma.
After their marriage Kenneth and Mary operated the City Service Station in Hominy for about four years. Kenneth started in business with Floyd Spencer drilling water wells in and around the Hominy area. Then in the early 1970Ãs Kenneth began his construction business. He continued to work actively in the Hominy area until 2000. Kenneth still was active helping his children in their business until his death.
Kenneth was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved to work in his garden. He was also a very family oriented husband, dad and grandpa.
Kenneth passed away March 13, 2004 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years and 1 month. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clifford and Leon Whited as well as a infant sister, Bonnie Lucille.
Survived by his wife of 54 years Mary of the home; three children, K. Darrell and wife Lesa Whited of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Roger and wife Sue Whited of Hominy, Oklahoma and Carolyn and husband Greg Powell of Hominy, Oklahoma; grandchildren, K. Shawn Whited of Kilgore, Texas; D.J. Whited of Hominy, Oklahoma; Julie and husband Rick Smith of Hominy, Oklahoma; Amy and husband Stacy Neafus of Hominy, Oklahoma; Andrea Powell of Hominy, Oklahoma; Stephanie Whited of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ian Whited of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great grandchildren Madison Smith of Hominy, Oklahoma; Hunter Smith of Hominy, Oklahoma; Griffin and Garrett Neafus both of Hominy, Oklahoma; siblings, Fern and husband Gene Roberson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Prentiss Whited of Pratt, Kansas; Farris and wife Jean Whited of Van Buren, Arkansas; Frank and wife Louise Whited of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Jerrel and wife Lee Whited of Walla Walla, Washington; Jeanie and husband Don Curtis of Plano, Texas; two aunts Eva Casey of Hominy, Oklahoma and Velma Rush of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
