On November 30, 2012, God called for an angel from this Earth. Kenneth (Kenny) Andrew Burgess Sr flew up to heaven to be with our Lord at the age of 59 years three months nad one day. Kenny was born on August 29, 1953 to Ruth and Dewey Burgess Sr in Terlton, Ok. He will be greeted in heaven by his parents, eldest brother Dewey Burgess Jr, a daughter Amy Taylor and a nephew Mark Burgess. He will finally get to meet his father in law and mother in law there also. Kenny grew up in the Terlton area where he attended grade school, then went to Mannford schools and graduated from Cleveland High School. He worked on a highway construction crew, then was employed by Nadel and Gussman LLC of Tulsa, Ok for the past 38 years. He also was a volunteer firefighter in Osage, Oklahoma for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, hunting, fishing, OU sports, and most of all, he is known for his long time hobby of being the lead singer and playing guitar with his band, Kanyon Band. Kenny is kind and had a good, strong influence on many people lives whether they knew it or not. He is survived by a great many friends and family. Survivors are his wife, Lorraine Burgess of the home, four children Angie Palkovich and her husband Jamie of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Andy Burgess of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Josh Manning and his wife Dusty of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Jonathan Manning and his wife Megan of Cleveland, Oklahoma; five brothers, Tom and Elsie Burgess of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Gary and Rita Burgess of Prue, Oklahoma, Ray and Dottie Burgess of Manhattan, Kansas, Les Burgess of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Steve and Nancy Burgess of Terlton, Okahoma; three sisters, Shirley and Bill Phillips of Cushing, Oklahoma, Linda and Lawrence Pettit of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Joann and Jim Fugate of Noble, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren J.P. Palkovich, September Palkovich, Allison Palkovich, Tiffany Burgess, Paige DuVall, Trevor Stufflebeam, Adam Burgess,Dalton DuVall, Brennen Manning and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Ruth Burgess, one daughter Amy Taylor, brother Dewey Burgess, Jr. and a nephew Mark Burgess. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, December 7, 2012 at the First Christian Church with Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
