Karen Lee Poulter passed from this life on November 14, 2019, at the age of 64. Born on February 1, 1955, in Yale, Oklahoma, Karen is the daughter of Norman Anderson and Lillian (Hasselwander) Anderson. Attending school in Mannford, Karen was active in basketball and later graduated with the class of 1973. Following her education, Karen resided in Mannford and worked for Pharmacil in Mannford, Oklahoma. Karen later began working for the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she was a secretary for several years. While working there, she met Michael Poulter, and the couple was united in marriage on November 9, 1990. They made their home in Jennings, Oklahoma and worked side by side for many years at Poulter Construction.
Karen enjoyed fishing and camping, mostly on the Cimarron and Arkansas River. Thanksgiving and Christmas time was spent with the family at home, as Karen loved to cook for them. Her homemade bread was famous! It is said Karen never met a stranger, and she was a second parent to many in the community.
Survivors include her husband Michael of the home; five children Charity Burrow of Terlton, Oklahoma, William Sunday of Terlton, Oklahoma, Amy Sunday of Drumright, Oklahoma, Mandy Donica of Missouri, and Darin Poulter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Jimmy Anderson of Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Linda Ortwein of Tulsa, Oklahoma; twenty-three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, one sister Donna Jones, great-grandchild Aiden Lawrence.
Services for Karen will be held 10:30 am, Friday, November 22, 2019, at the Grace Gospel Church in Jennings, Oklahoma. Officiating the service will be Casey Muse. Karen will be laid to rest in the Jennings Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
