Judy Kaye Allison

Judy Kaye Allison passed away on Saturday May 23, 2015, at St John's Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma. She was 64 years, three months and nine days old. Judy was born February 14, 1951 (A Valentines baby) in Morris Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Alfred and Eva Jo (Perkins) Grimmett.  Judy was born and raised a Baptist and attended Church and Sunday School regularly. As a young girl Judy began her education in Morris Oklahoma, as the family moved around a lot, she also attended Glenpool and Seminole schools before finally settling in Cleveland Oklahoma beginning in 8th grade. In school she was a member of FHA, Drill Team and Pep Club.  In her spare time she served as a Candy Striper at the Cleveland area Hospital. Judy graduated Cleveland High School with the Class of 1969. After Graduation Judy was accepted into Bartlesville Wesleyan College and began college in 1970. She spent one year at Wesleyan and then applied and was accepted to St John's School of Nursing in Tulsa Oklahoma. As nursing had been her calling since a very young age, she excelled in nursing school, even earning the Mae Trope scholarship award in 1971. Judy graduated as a Registered Nurse from St John's School of Nursing in 1972. As her dream had always been to become a nurse and help others, this was one of the proudest moments of her life. Truly a dream comes true! Upon graduation she was immediately employed by St John's Medical Center, working as an OBGYN Nurse.  Some years later she left the hospital to work for a private practice as an infertility specialist nurse. Judy remained there for several years before returning to St John's Hospital as an IV Nurse. She was considered by most hospital staff as one of the most talented and knowledgeable IV nurses in the entire hospital. Judy was adored and appreciated by so many, as she was always willing to go above the call of duty to help a patient or co-worker. During her later years she even began teaching new nursing graduates how to insert IV's. Judy finished her career, in the same place it started, retiring from St John's Medical Center in January of 2014. In all Judy was a Register Nurse, living her dream, for more than 42 years. Judy was united in marriage to Mike Goodson of Cleveland Oklahoma July 29, 1972. They resided in Tulsa Oklahoma and on April 28, 1975 they had their only child, a son Joshua Michael Goodson.  Following the divorce Judy remained in Tulsa to continue her career as a nurse. In 1986 Judy met Rickey R. Allison and they were united in marriage on December 7, 1988. The two resided in Tulsa for many years. In 1996 they moved to their current home, located in the country near Beggs Oklahoma. Judy and Rick both considered it their own little paradise.  As a young girl Judy enjoyed tormenting her sister Carey any chance she got. She also enjoyed playing practical jokes, something that she never grew out of. In nursing school she was often one of the ring leaders in toilet papering fellow students and even instructors rooms. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could take a joke, as well as, dish it out. When her son was young, Judy enjoyed taking him to the Illinois River with her friend Vicki to go canoeing. Judy and Rick enjoyed traveling in their earlier years, spending many summers in Colorado, and Las Vegas. After moving to their home in Beggs, they traveled less as the peace and tranquility of their beautiful property provided plenty of activity. Activities like hosting family Holidays, hiking around the property or just relaxing and fishing in the pond. Judy also enjoyed Oklahoma State Basketball and Football, hardly ever missing a chance to watch a game. Judy enjoyed NASCAR racing, and her and Rick watched most every race on TV, and even traveled to watch a few races live. Judy's favorite holiday was Christmas. She often went overboard on gifts and would spend hours wrapping each gift to make sure it was absolutely perfect. Her legendary bow making will be missed. Judy was an avid animal lover, most of all dogs. She had a puppy nearly every year of her life, they were family.  Most of all Judy was kind, compassionate and had a heart of gold, always willing to help a family member, friend or even a stranger in a time of need. She loved life, her friends, her pets and her family unconditionally. Judy is survived by her husband Rick Allison, son Josh Goodson, Sister Carey Bohannan and her husband Richard Bohannan. Nephew and niece, Curtis and Aimee Bohannan, close family friend Janna Morton, and numerous other family and friends that will miss her dearly. She was succeeded in death by her father Alfred Grimmett and mother Eva Jo Grimmett. Chapel services will be held 2:00 pm Friday May 29, 2015 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. The body will be cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com
