Judith Kay Rigsby, 73, passed from this life on May 11, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Judith was born on October 4, 1946, in Pratt, Kansas. She was the daughter of Lynn L. and Vergie L. (Vansickle) Cannon. Judith grew up in Dodge City, Kansas where she attended school and later graduated with the Class of 1964. Following high school Judith attended Dodge City Community College and in 1968 Graduated from Western State with her bachelors degree. Judith was residing in Oklahoma City when she met Albert Lee Rigsby at Tinker Air Force Base. The two was later united in marriage on September 4, 1971. The couple established their initial home in Midwest City, Oklahoma and then in 1978, moved to Cleveland where she resided for many years. In the early 1980’s, Judith accepted the librarian position at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Judith worked there for many years and returned to school to obtain her master’s degree in Library Science graduating from University of Oklahoma in 1994. Judith later retired from her librarian position after 35 years.
Judith being a librarian, her love for books and reading material spilled over into her life outside of work. She loved reading and nothing in particular. She felt that knowledge truly was in between the covers of a book. Other things she enjoyed were NCIS, Star Trek as well as arts and crafts. On her 60th birthday, Judith did something she had always wanted to do. She went skydiving and had the thrill of her life. She was also one that was very well prepared for the Y2K.
Survivors include her two children Jennifer Baker and her husband Todd of Wichita, Kansas, Phillip Rigsby and his wife Debbie of Edmond, Oklahoma; one brother Michael Cannon of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren Shelby and Justice and a niece Christi Graham and a host of other relative and friends that will mourn her passing. Preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Vergie Cannon and her husband Albert.
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor David Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
