Juanita Rebecca Nix, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend left this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years.
Juanita was born February 16, 1926, in Osage County, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert John and Clara Alice (Tattershall) Morris. Juanita was raised and attended school in the Bethel and Jennings area. Following the completion of her education Juanita was united in marriage to Louis Archer on June 4, 1943, who later passed away fighting for our freedom in France during World War II. To that union there is one daughter Kathalene “Kathy” Louise. On May 19, 1946, Juanita was united in marriage to Gene Nix her husband of over 69 years. Gene had a deep love for his bride, Juanita and soon to be adopted daughter, Kathy. To that union a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Jean was born.
Juanita loved her family and through the years she enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading as well as various kinds of needle work. For a time, Juanita was a cook at the Cleveland High School and later at the Cleveland Baptist Village. She also worked as a clerk at the local Ben Franklin store for several years. Juanita has been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland following the transfer of her membership from Hallett Baptist Church. Her warm and friendly smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors are her loving husband Gene of the home; two children Kathy Beavers and her husband Lorren of Kingston, Oklahoma, Becky Brooks and her husband Larry of Guthrie, Oklahoma; one sister Mary Stanford of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one grandson Bryan Beavers and his wife Shelly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two great grandsons Braxton and Colton Beavers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Juanita was preceded in death by her father Robert Morris, mother Clara Morris, husband Louis Archer in 1944; sister Virginia Messick; brother Robert "Bobby" Junior Morris; step mother Jennie Hart Morris, step sisters Thelma Biggs and Viola "Dutch" Keeling.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm or online at www.chapman-black.com
