Juanita Frances Ward, a resident of Cleveland was born September 12, 1920 in Cushing, Oklahoma to William Francis and Emma Frances (Peck) Nix. Juanita was raised and received her education in Cushing and then later moved Hallett where she completed her senior year. Juanita was united in marriage to Ramsey Edward Ward in Hallett, Oklahoma on April 16, 1942. They continued to reside in the Hallet area where they raised their five children Edward, William, Jim, Dale and Ruth. In 1975 Juanita moved to Cleveland and soon started to attend Tulsa Junior College where she later received a degree in Nursing Home Administration. After graduation on May 13, 1977 Juanita gained employment as an administrator in Grove. She was soon transferred to Dewey and then later to Sapulpa. In 1981 upon her retirement Juanita moved back to Cleveland. She continued to help many elderly as a care giver for many years.
Juanita loved to crochet as well as any other craft projects. She made these gifts for friends and family as well as to sell. Juanita was a member of the Hallett First Baptist Church before moving her membership to Western Heights Baptist Church, she was also active in the WMU (WomenÃs Missionary Union) and Secret Sisters as well as teaching Sunday School Class for many years.
Juanita passed away March 2, 2004 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years 5 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, son Edward Francis Ward as well as a daughter in law Sharon Kay Ward.
Surviving are her children, William R Ward of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; James D. and his wife Pat Ward of Claremore, Oklahoma; Dale L. and his wife Donna Ward of Muscatine, Iowa; Ruth and her husband Don Kent of Cleveland, Oklahoma; daughter in law Barbara Ward of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brothers Gene and his wife Juanita Nix of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Arnold and his wife Lula Nix of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister, Lucille and her husband Doyle Maxwell of Cleveland, Oklahoma; grandchildren Tommy and Janice Ward, Danny and Brenda Ward, Laura and Dewayne Welker, Allan and Brandy Ward, Monty and Angela Ward, Melissa Ward, Jamie Ward, Janine Ward, Julie Ward, Debbie and Tim Imhoff, Dixie Ward, Dana Ward, great grandchildren, Chad Ward, Beth Ward, Jake Ward, Chris Welker, Nolan Welker, Logan Welker, Cooper Ward, Joseph Ward, and Rebekah Imhoff as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Tommy Ward, Danny Ward, Allan Ward, Monty Ward, Tim Imhoff, Chad Ward and honorary pallbearers will include Jake Ward, Chris Welker, Logan Welker and Nolan Welker.
Funeral services are to be held Friday, March 5, 2004 at 10:00 am in Western Heights Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. David Head and Rev. Louis Speck officiating. Burial will follow be at Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
