Joseph Lynn Raleigh, passed from this life on Sunday, January 4, 2015, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, at the age of 62 years, six months and twelve days. Joe was born on June 23, 1952, in Stillwell, Oklahoma. He was the son of Paul and Ola Elaine (Casteel) Raleigh. As a young man ìSilent Joeî as he was known to his friends grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following the completion of his schooling Joe remained in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joe raised his children in Broken Arrow and Tulsa. On June 4, 2009, Joe was united in marriage to Jo-Ellyn Owens. The couple established their home in Cleveland where they have continued to reside. Joe was a very fun loving and practical man. He enjoyed playing jokes on others; especially his wife Jo-Ellyn. Silent Joe had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Joe has tried numerous things during his life. He has ran in the Tulsa Run, coached little league baseball, took up photography, performed as a guitarist for the Raleigh and Ross Group and was even a rescue scuba diver. He was currently learning the trade as a locksmith. Joe enjoyed building model airplanes and especially enjoyed radio controlled airplanes. He has received numerous awards for his photography and even had a photo placed in a museum in New York for its unique qualities. Joe has worked at several places during his life including; Black Dog Alarm Systems, Poseidon Adventures Dive Shop as well as Maltsberger Propane in Cleveland. Joe has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the past ten years. He will be remembered for great and friendly smile as well as his awesome sense of humor. Survivors are his wife Jo-Ellyn of the home, four children Jesse Hardesty of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joey Raleigh and his wife Vickie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Eric Raleigh of Pryor, Oklahoma, John Raleigh of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, step children Jason DePaul of Austin, Minnesota, Jessica DePaul of Austin Minnesota, one brother Byron Raleigh and his wife Beverly of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren Quinn, Gareth, Joseph, Jamie, Kyler, Jackson, Halee, Tomeshia, Amara, Alex, Meghan and numerous other relatives, friends and church family that will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Paulette McGrew and a niece Kerry McGrew. Church services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, January 8, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Following the services the body will be cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be in memory of Joe to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for missionary projects.
