Jonathan Swinford

Jonathan Ralph Swinford was born November 18, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Ralph Swinford and Nancy Lee Steckel. Ralph moved with his family at an early age to Yale where he attended school, graduating from Yale High School in 1989.

Shortly after graduation, Jonathan was married to Vanessa Stotts in Stillwater, Oklahoma on August 12, 1989 and started his family, having five children, Steven, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Timothy and Michael. Jonathan was employed as a chemical plant operator with Peak Sulphur Company for many years.

Jonathan passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Jennings, Oklahoma at the age of thirty-five years, three months and twenty-one days. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby Lee Floyd and his father-in-law; Donald Stotts.

Jonathan is survived by his wife, Vanessa of the home; five children, Steven Wayne, Elizabeth RaeAnn, Jonathan Travis, Timothy Ralph and Michael Joe, all of the home; mother and step-father, Nancy and John Steckel of Rochester, New York; father, Ralph Swinford of Marlow, Oklahoma; brother Shon Swinford of Pierre Part, Louisiana; maternal grandfather and his wife, M. R. Floyd, Sr. and Dorothy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; paternal grandmother and grandfather, Jesse and Andrew Vronek of Comanche, Oklahoma; four uncles, M. R. Floyd, Jr., of Jennings, Oklahoma, Roger Floyd of Enid, Oklahoma, George Floyd of Beaumont, Texas and Monte Floyd of Mannford, Oklahoma; two aunts, Lisa Lucas of Marlow, Oklahoma and Andrea Vronek of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Mannford with Rev. Garnet Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
