Funeral services for Johnnie Guy Hinchey will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Prue Cemetery with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial in the Prue Cemetery will be under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Johnnie was born March 10, 1951, in Erik, Oklahoma. He was the son of Guy Lavon and Edith Pearl (Yarbrough) Hinchey. As a young child John moved with his family from Western Oklahoma to Sand Springs in 1953. He began his education in Sand Springs and later the family moved to Prue, Oklahoma in 1963 where he graduated with the Class of 1971. Following graduation John remained in Prue and worked in Tulsa for a year prior to gaining employment with Fallin Ford in Hominy as a mechanic. Later in 1987, John opened his own business in Hominy and in the mid 1990ís moved to his current location on Eastern Street. John has worked on numerous vehicles over his lifetime always providing his customers with the best. John has also helped many in need by repairing their autos without anything in return. Providing customer service was one thing John took pride in. He always felt being honest, fair, dependable and a good friend to his customers is what set him apart from others. John stated ìIf I told you I would do it you can take it to the bank.î John enjoyed many things in life most of all he loved being outdoors. He loved going to Arkansas, riding his motorcycle, horseback riding, fishing and hunting with his grandsons Eric & Johnathan. John has spent many days working all-day long in the shop and then leave to work in the hay field until the wee hours of the morning to provide for his family. John was a volunteer firefighter for many years. He began during his eighth grade year in school when you were issued a sack and a bucket to fight the grass fires. He was responsible for helping establish the Hominy Ranchers Rural Fire Department, the Pershing Fire Department along with many other small departments, and worked on every neighboring departments trucks to make sure they were up and running good when they were needed. He served for many years until his retirement from Hominy Fire Department early in 2012. John had many great memories of his family especially his parents and spending time with his Grandfather Hinchey. He also had wonderful memories hunting and fishing as well as spending quality time with his grandsons Eric & Johnathan. If you saw John anytime he wasn't working you would see Eric by his side, and was especially proud to have his youngest grandson named after him. John passed from this life with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at his home in Hominy at the age of 61 years, ten months and six days. Survivors are his children Carla Donigan of Hominy, Oklahoma, Terry Dean Lemmons of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; two siblings Linda Sue Johnson of Prue, Oklahoma, Beverly Childers of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Eric and Johnathan Edwards. John was preceded in death by his parents.
