John Troy Storm, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.
John was born November 14, 1944, in Cushing, Oklahoma. He was the son James Troy and Ludima Bernice (Carpenter) Storm. John was raised and received his education in Cushing where he later graduated high school. Following high school, John joined the United States Air Force in July of 1962. Following basic training, John was stationed at Bunker Hill AFB Indiana. John was later united in marriage on March 28, 1964, to Rosemary A. Kenworthy. The couple established their home in Indiana, and to that union, there are two children Teresa and Steve. Following his honorable discharge in July of 1966, the two moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. John gained employment with Tulsa Public Services. In 1969, John started working as a welder’s helper on the pipeline. After a couple of years traveling John gained employment with Texaco-Cities Services and moved his family to Cushing, Oklahoma. They remained in Cushing until 1982, and he was transferred to Jal, New Mexico. John retired as a field gauger from Texaco in 1999. Following the merger of Texaco and Shell, John continued working in the oil and gas industry before he fully retired in 2006. In 2013, John and Rosemary returned to Oklahoma and moved to Sand Springs where they have continued to reside.
John enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. John liked to work with leather making things for his family and friends. Visiting with people was also something that John enjoyed doing. Watching westerns and sitting down with a good western novel was a pastime of John’s. John and Rosemary enjoyed going to Branson ever chance they could. John enjoyed attending church at Lake United Methodist Church.
Survivors are wife Rosemary of the home; two children Teresa Kelly and her husband Bill of Mannford, Oklahoma, Steve Storm of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Chaz and Caleb Egger; two great grandchildren Amellia and Charlie. John was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at the Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Betz officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in memory of John to the Porta Caeli House 2440 N. Harvard Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74115.
Pallbearers will include Chaz Egger, Caleb Egger, Steve Storm, Bill Kelly, Mark Hargroves and Jon Kenworthy.
