John Travis Allen, lifelong Cleveland resident, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2003 at the Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, at the age of twenty-nine years, eight months and twenty-one days.
Travis was born December 31, 1973 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of John and Connie Allen. Travis was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1992.
Upon graduation, Travis' interest and knowledge of computers resulted in his becoming a computer technician. He often provided free consultation and repair of computer problems to his friends and family. He later accepted employment as a sales representative for Blockbuster Video in Tulsa.
While attending Sunset Bible Camp at the age of sixteen, Travis met his soon to be best friend, Shawna Lincoln. The couple dated through high school and then where later married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on December 12, 1998. Travis and Shawna have two children, Dayci Ann and Corbin Travis.
Travis was born with a heart condition that limited his physical activities and required his retirement at a young age. Travis was a member the First Christian Church. His hobbies included surfing the internet as well as computer games. He loved to read and has a large collection of Sci-Fi books. Additionally, his favorite past time was fishing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Constance Ann Allen on February 13, 2001; maternal grandfather, Frank Herring; maternal great-grandfather, Neal Williams; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Thelma Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Shawna Allen, of the home; two children, Dayci Ann Allen and Corbin Travis Allen, both of the home; father, John Allen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; grandmother, Emily Herring of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother and his wife, Michael Mike and Lauri Allen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister and her husband, Michelle LaDawn and Cimarron Hughes of Mannford, Oklahoma; mother and father-in law, Jerry and Lavinia Lincoln of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles including, John and Sherri Herring of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Vernon and Kathy Moura of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and David and Susan Allen of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 26, 2003 at the First Christian Church with Dakota Rush officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
