Jimmy Ray Cornelious, Jr. passed from this life on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years and four days. Jimmy was born March 17, 1937, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. As a young boy Jimmy moved with his father to Tulsa near Dawson. Jimmy began his education in Tulsa and later completed high school in Catoosa. Jimmy joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He was later honorably discharged due to his age and returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jimmy began working as a carpenter and worked on many projects including the Williams Building and Eastland Mall to name a few. On May 3, 1957, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Jimmy was united in marriage to Doris In early 2000, Jimmy started a business hauling time sensitive loads. Jimmy operated his hotshot company for many years starting off with a small one ton truck. He later expanded his operation to a full size semitruck which he was currently operating. Jimmy loved to fish, especially for bass. His favorite place to go was to Lake Fork in Texas; however, Jimmy loved to fish anywhere there was water. Building and racing hot rods was also a passion of JimmyÃs. Elk hunting in Colorado was also a enjoyable time in his life. Jimmy was known for being onery, pulling pranks and teasing children when ever he could. He played the steel guitar for many years and loved music. Most of all in life Jimmy loved spending time with his family and grandchildren that he loved dearly. Survivors are his loving wife Doris of the home, four children Candice Keightley and her husband Bill of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Randy Cornelius and his wife Christie of Spring, Texas, Jamie Robison and her husband Raymond of Prue, Oklahoma, Jodi Gills and her husband Sean of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two brothers Larry Cornelius and his wife Jeri of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ronnie Cornelius of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister Rosemary Hammonds and her husband Alan of Silver City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren Adam Deaton, Ashley Bales, Ryan Cornelius, Ashley Cornelius, Kara Yarborough, C.J. Perryman, Bryce Robison, Beau Gills, Avery Gills; nine great grandchildren Markie and Courtney Bales, Reilly and Allie Deaton, Triston, Haley and McKenzie Cornelius, Jayden and Emma Perryman as well as numerous other friends and relatives that will mourn his passing. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Ray Cornelius, Sr. and one daughter Cheri Cornelius Owens. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Presley officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
