Jimmy George Thrasher, 77, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at SouthCrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jimmy was born January 20, 1933 in Terlton, Oklahoma. Jimmy was the son of Frank Edward and Sarah Margaret (Fish) Thrasher. As a young boy Jimmy was raised in the Terlton area and began attending the Scrapping Ridge School. He later completed his education in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Following high school Jimmy entered in to the service of his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his time in the military Jimmy spent the majority of his duty in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Jimmy returned to Hominy, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Ina Ruth Spears on September 27, 1955, in Hominy, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Hominy and Jimmy gained employment with Dowell. Jimmy continued working there for approximately 5 years before being transferred to Cortez, Colorado. Jimmy and Ruth soon returned to Hominy. Following their return Jimmy accepted employment with O Frac in Pawhuska, Oklahoma for a short time before working for Earl Bray driving a tank truck. In 1966, Jimmy began working for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 627. Jimmy worked throughout the United States as a track hoe operator for over 30 years before his retirement from the union. Following retirement Jimmy still continued working. He worked for Lakeland Pipeline as a foreman for many years as the track hoe operator for Falcon Field Services. Jimmy enjoyed working and fully retired in 2007. Jimmy loved to go fishing for catfish. During his time fishing, Jimmy caught many fish that have exceeded the scales limits. He also loved going to Branson as well as Eureka Springs. During his time traveling with his job, Jimmy always took the time to go sightseeing around the area. Jimmy was a very caring man with a tender heart toward animals and people as well as a wonderful sense of humor. One thing Jimmy loved most about life was his family and four legged friend Lady as well as going to the Hickory House visiting with friends. Survivors are his wife Ruth of the home; four children Steven Charles Thrasher and his wife Judy of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Treca Kay Carter and her husband Mike of Hominy, Oklahoma, Debbie Treanor and her husband Edward of Hominy, Oklahoma, Bobby Mazour of Frankfurt, Germany; two sisters Donna Rae Batson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Billie Jean Freeman of Arcata, California; eight grandchildren Jared Thrasher and Tiffany, Lindsey Gallatin and Ferdinand, Sarah Horton, Dillon Horton, LaDonna Shadlow and William, James McIntire and Whitney, Kyle Hopper and Brittnie, Michael Carter and Rachel; seventeen great grandchildren Jacey, Trenton, Josh, Haley, Tell, Ava, Aubrey, Isabella, Logan, Gunnar, Noah, Chloe, Caroline, Ryan, Sloane, Raelynn and Graysen as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by one brother Frank Edward Thrasher, Jr., one sister Betty Sue Lear and one grandson William Martin Shadlow, Jr. Pallbearers will include James McIntire, Dillon Horton, Jared Thrasher, Don Brown, Darrell Brown, Floyd Crenshaw, Troy Caudle, Fred Taylor, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Treanor, Wendell Braden, Norman Purcell, Raymond Alexander, Donald Alexander and John Alexander. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
