Retired Keystone Lake Park Ranger, Ronald James Wolfe, known to his friends and family as Jim passed from this life on Monday, May 23, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years old. He was preceded in death by parents William Thurman Wolfe and Nova Odessa Wolfe.
Jim was born on April 22, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a young man Jim began his education in Tulsa, before moving with his family to the Pawnee area. Jim graduated from Hallett High School in 1953. Following high school Jim began working in the oil field. During this time, it took him and his family to many places including Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Nebraska, as well as several places in Oklahoma. In the early 1960’s, Jim moved to Tulsa where he worked as a mechanic. He also worked for many years as a parts manager, service manager, and salesman for several auto dealerships. Jim later partnered with his uncle and established Wolfe’s Auto City on 11th Street in Tulsa. The two owned and operated the dealership until 1979. Jim later gained employment as the Park Ranger at Keystone Lake State Park where he worked until his retirement in 1987.
Jim was united in marriage to Carmelita Valdez on May 16, 1969, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, the couple established their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In 1978 Jim and Carmelita moved to their current home on Lake Keystone.
They attended church for many years at Woodlake Assembly of God and Carbondale Assembly of God.
Following retirement Jim was able to do what he loved most; being outdoors and fishing. Jim also enjoyed wood working and made many items for his friends and family including rocking horses and doll beds for his grandchildren. Jim loved spending time on Keystone Lake fishing and jug lining. He also enjoyed the time spent at Durango, Colorado and the overnight outings when his children were growing up at Spavinaw Lake. He liked to travel and enjoyed the time they spent in Florida, Mexico, Spain, France and California. Jim had a collection of clocks and lanterns which he has accumulated over the years. Jim is described as a very caring, sweet and generous man. Also, he was a little bit ornery.
Survivors are his wife Carmelita of the home, four children Ronnie Wolfe and his wife Kathy of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Steve Wolfe and his wife Celeste of Jones, Oklahoma, Terry Wolfe and his wife Kathy of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Carol Harper and Tim Randall of Grove, Oklahoma; siblings Maxine Woodrell and her husband Dale of Terlton, Oklahoma, Martha Thornton and her husband Glenn of Bixby, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Keith Wolfe, Dusty Wolfe, Cortney Hagan, Caitlin Sanderson, Tanner Wolfe, Kristen Wolfe; eight great grandchildren Logan, Emily, Blake, Ava, Mckenna, Rylee, Harper, Halstyn. He had special friends Orville and Pauline Nichols and Walyn and Rachel Hensley as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing.
Services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Carbondale Assembly of God Church with Rev. Phil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Carbondale Assembly of God Missions or Doorways Missions.
