Jim Stacy Thornton passed from this life on August 30, 2021, at the age of 52.

Stacy was born on November 8, 1968, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma the son of Jim L. and Betty J. (Proffitt) Thornton. Stacy attended school in Hominy later graduating with the Class of 1987. Following high school Stacy joined the United States Army. After the completion of boot camp Stacy was initially stationed at Bamberg Army Base. Stacy was transferred to Ft. Sill Army Base and later united in marriage to Tracy Lou Nicholson on November 23, 1990. Stacy later was transferred to the Hunter Army Airfield where he received his training as a Ranger with the 1st Battalion 75th Regiment. Then on April 5, 1995, Sergeant Stacy Thornton was honorably discharged at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Stacy then gained employment with the Kansas Highway Patrol patrolling in Liberal and Fredonia, Kansas. In 2007, Stacy and Tracy moved their family back to Oklahoma residing in Terlton. During that time he gained employment with Spess Oil Company as their dozer operator. In 2015, he started driving a truck for Anderson Trucking Service hauling parts for windmills throughout the US.

Stacy enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as taking time riding his motorcycle. He was an animal lover and had several different hunting breeds. Going and watching his kids participate in the sporting activities was also things he enjoyed doing. Stacy always enjoyed his food, guns and family being around. Attending the gun shows with his kids and dad were always memorable times.

Survivors are his wife Tracy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three children Blake Thornton of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Colton Thornton of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Tia Thornton of Cleveland, Oklahoma; father Jim Thornton and step mother Gwen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister Kazia Brister of Berryhill, Oklahoma; granddaughter Emery Thornton; step grandfather to two boys; Caleb Archer, and K.C. Keil; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his mother Betty Thornton.

Services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Formby officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Mannford, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
