James Edward Green Sr. passed from this life on February 7, 2019, at the age of 85 in Texas City, Texas.
Jim was born on October 21, 1933, in Drumright, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jim (JW) and Gladys (Chapman) Green. Jim grew up and attended school in Cleveland graduating with the Class of 1951. Following high school, Jim attended Kentucky University on a music scholarship. Following the completion of his education, Jim worked for and with his father on various construction jobs, and in the early 60’s formed J&J Construction in Cleveland with his father. Jim also worked for several other companies as a private contractor. During his time working in the oil and gas industry, it had taken him throughout the US as well as Alaska, Central and South America and the Caribbean. He formally retired from Williams Brothers Flour in Tulsa, and later in his retirement worked on pipeline jobs as an inspector.
Jim enjoyed raising cattle, custom cutting and baling hay, and working on anything mechanical. He also enjoyed reading and liked spending time in the Houston area.
Survivors include his three children Ed Green and his wife Cindy of League City, Texas, Phil Green and his wife Lori of Verdigris, Oklahoma, Shannon Richards and her husband Eric of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Amber, Jared, Nathan, Collin, Dylan, Chandler; six great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am February 20, 2019, in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Woodland Cemetery.
