Jewell (Carlile) Mills-Harris of Jennings, Oklahoma left this world Saturday January 3, 2009 at the age of 89. Jewell was born July 4, 1919 in Clarksville, Arkansas, the daughter of General Sulton and Josie Minney (Sparks) Carlile. At the age of 9, Jewell moved with her family to Blackburn, Oklahoma. On February 5, 1938, Jewell was united in marriage to George W. Mills in Drumright, Oklahoma. To this union there are seven children; Georgia Ann, G.W., Orville, Larry, Deloris, Ruby Jewell and Tommy Dale. After the death of George, Jewell was later united in marriage to Euell Harris on November 2, 1995 in Jennings, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Jennings where she has continued to reside. Jewell spent most of her time gardening and making quilts. She loved to read, especially her Bible. Jewell was a true Christian and servant of the Lord. She has been a member of the Assembly of God Church in Jennings for many years. She loved her family and friends dearly and was adored by many. Survivors are her four sons Larry Mills of Jennings, Oklahoma, Tommy Mills of Jennings, Oklahoma, G.W. Mills of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Orville Mills of Jennings, Oklahoma, two daughters Deloris Alley of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Georgia Semler of Drumright, Oklahoma, two brothers H.B. Minney of Maramec, Oklahoma, J.E. Minney of Mannford, Oklahoma, three sisters Lucille Long of Perry, Oklahoma, Violet Whiles of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Waltina Day of Pawnee, Oklahoma; twenty four grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, one very dear friend Dora Lewis and a host of other relatives and friends that mourn her passing.. In addition to her parents Jewell was preceded in death by two husbands George William Mills, Euell Harris, one daughter Ruby J. Lay, nine brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter Regina Mills, one grandson Mike Semler, two great grandsons Austin Harris and Preston Semler. Rev. J.W. Wright will officiate church services 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the First Assembly of God in Jennings, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
