Jessie Albert Carson, 71, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Jess was born September 22, 1938 in Mannford, Oklahoma. He was the son of Albert Bert and Alva Rado (Luke) Carson. As a young child Jess was raised and received his education in Mannford and later graduated from Mannford High School. Soon after graduation Jess began working at National Tank in West Tulsa. He later accepted employment with Armco Steel in 1967. Jess continued working there until 1973, when he moved to Muldrow, Oklahoma. At that time Jess founded the company Carson and Carson Welding and Construction. He built commercial metal buildings as well as other projects throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Jess continued the operation of his company until 2007 when he retired fully. Jess was an avid rodeo participant. He was a team roper and was known as one of the best healers in the area. Jess was also a pickup man for the rodeo events and won several buckles in the team roping events in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Kansas. When Jess was not active in rodeoÃs he still enjoyed being around livestock and horses. He was also a co-owner of the 1984 World Champion Palomino Show Horse. Jess was an avid believer in that hard work even when you were sleeping is necessary. Survivors are his two sons Duane Carson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kit Carson of Muldrow, Oklahoma; one brother Johnny Carson of Ruidosa, New Mexico, four sisters Joan Wagner of Sandusky, Ohio, Dorotha Maple of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Nettie Brewster of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Jeweldean Stigall of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Ryan Carson of Mannford, Oklahoma, Colton Carson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Patience Carson of Muldrow, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren Peyton Carson and Boomer Carson of Mannford, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Jess was preceded in death by his son Randall Bert Carson in June of 1975. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma with Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
