Funeral services for Jessey Dale Brower, lifelong Cleveland resident, will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10:00 am, at the First Christian Church in Cleveland with Dakota Rush officiating. Brower, 89, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Drumright, Oklahoma.

Dale was born September 16, 1918 in Cleveland to Lindsey and Margaret (Minix) Brower. He attended Cleveland Public Schools, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1938. Following graduation, he worked in the oilfields near Longview, Texas for a time and then returned to Cleveland where he enlisted in the United State Army Air Corp on February 5, 1941. Tech Sergeant Brower served as an Airplane Flight Chief during World War II, serving in Alaska after the Japanese forces had left. Upon his honorable discharge on December 10, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Dale returned to Cleveland and immediately began a career with Rural Electric Cooperative.

Brower accepted employment with the Indian Electric Cooperative in January 1946, and for most of his career he was a lineman, installing and repairing electrical service to Coop customers. In the latter stages of his career he became a service representative and remained in that position until he retired in February 1982, after thirty six years of service.

On January 24, 1947 he was married to Jacqueline Roller at the First Christian Church, and to this union were born two sons, Michael and Lee. Dale was a member of the First Christian Church for more than sixty years and served as a deacon for many years. Additionally, he served on the Cleveland City Council for several years. His hobbies included fishing and hunting with his friends all over Oklahoma, Arkansas and Mexico. He also enjoyed working outside, mowing and maintaining his yard, picking pecans from trees he planted in the early 1950's. Dale was also an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Troy, Arch, Avery, Raymond and Harold, and three sisters, Hazel Trisdale, Goldie Martin and Louise Grigg.

Brower is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Jacqueline of the home; sons, Mike and Lee, both of Cleveland; sister, Norma Gayle Clayton of Hamilton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Edwin Brower of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, Stephanie Easter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lenee Condray of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeff Brower of Dallas, Texas and Brian Brower and Amanda Brower of Cleveland, Oklahoma. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Paige, Michael and Dale Brower, all of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, Ashley Easter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Brookelynn and Morgan Brower of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Allen, Tom Hamilton, Gene Byers, Dick Risinger, Dean Estes and F. D. Curtis. The family requests memorials be made in Brower's name to the First Christian Church, 100 South Division, Cleveland, Oklahoma 74020. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
