Jesse Owens Skip Fast was born December 6, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Jesse F. and Kathleen E. Fast. Skip moved with his family during his second grade year to Prue where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Prue High School in 1971. Upon graduation from high school, Skip attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami.
Upon completion of his education, Skip began a short career as a welder, working in Tulsa for a couple of years. His desire to work for himself led Skip to begin a career in the conrete construction business in 1975. Since that time he has owned and operated the Jesse Fast Concrete Construction Company in Mannford, providing all types of concrete work including driveways, footings, slab flooring and other commericial applications.
While residing in Prue, Jesse was baptized in the First Baptist Church and has remained a member there throughout his life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime, however, was finding and collecting arrowheads.
Skip passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at his home in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 52 years 1 month and 8 days.
He is survived by his son, Cole Fast of Mannford, Oklahoma; a daughter and her husband, Shawn and Jimmy Rusco of Mannford, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Raegan Rusco, Kade Rusco and Kya Rusco, all of Mannford; parents, Jesse and Kathleen Fast of Prue, Oklahoma; one brother, Thomas Fast of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a sister, Diana Patterson of Prue, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be held, January 17, 2006 at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Prue, Oklahoma with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. The body was cremated.
