Noel Wayne Whitton, Jr. known to his friends and family as Jerry of Mannford, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home at the age of 62 years.
Jerry was born November 6, 1954, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was the son of Noel Wayne, Sr. and Alyce Mae (Johnson) Whitton. Jerry was raised and received his education in Mannford, Oklahoma where he graduated with the Class of 1973. Following graduation, Jerry attended school at Oklahoma State University and Spartan School of Aeronautics. Jerry began working with his family at Whitton Drilling Company working there until the late 1980’s. Jerry began working at Central Vo-Tech as a truck driver instructor. On August 7, 1983, Jerry was united in marriage to Cynthia Lee Cox. Following their marriage, they remained in Stillwater. Jerry and Cindy later moved to Mannford where he has continued to reside. Jerry remained working at Central Vo-Tech until he was forced into retirement in 2013 after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009.
Jerry had many hobbies some of them include fishing, piloting airplanes and mostly working around the house mowing the lawn and driving the tractor. He also loved to take numerous pictures of Cindy and Rachel. Jerry also never missed a horse show that Rachel participated in. He was an avid gun collector as well as loved driving his classic truck around. Jerry’s favorite place to eat was at the Knotty Pine. Jerry also enjoyed the times he would take Cindy and Rachel to Table Rock Lake.
Survivors are daughter Rachel Whitton and her fiancé Tony Francies of Mannford, Oklahoma; brother Robert Whitton of Olive, Oklahoma; mother in law Mary Cox of Hominy, Oklahoma and numerous other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cindy; sister Judy Wilson and father in law T.H. Cox.
Mass services will be 10:30 am, Monday, May 15, 2017, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hominy, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or online at www.chapman-black.com.
