Jerry Lee Ackley passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, four months and 15 days.

Jerry was born January 26, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Lee and Dorothy (Kerwood), Ackley. Jerry attended schools at Kendell, Wilson, and later graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1954. After high school, Jerry enlisted into the Marine Corp Reserve and was later called up with the United States Army in May of 1958. He was stationed in Korea and served his time until he returned to Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was honorably discharged in May of 1960. On September 24, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to Jannette Leona Ross. Jerry began working as a machinist and work for McElroy Manufacturing. He remained there for nearly 20 years before going to work at Dodd Manufacturing. He also worked at the Walker Company for a short time. Jerry later worked at CustoFab in Sand Springs until his retirement in 2000.

Jerry was very active at the Tulsa Baptist Temple. He began attending there at the age 15. Jerry took many mission trips to Ecuador, Mexico, Kenya, Sedan, St. Lucia, Brazil as well as Guatemala. He helped build churches, worked as a plumber as well as a stone mason. His works will not go unnoticed to those that are wanting to know Jesus Christ. Jerry enjoyed traveling, he and Jannette took many trips. Some of them include a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands, cruise to Alaska as well as trips to Branson, Kentucky to see Noah’s Ark as well as rock and diamond hunting. Jerry loved the time growing a garden. He did that for numerous years giving his fruits and vegetables to friends and coworkers. Jerry also raised chickens, pigs, and cows. Jerry had a big heart for people; he donated money and time to missions to numerous people in need for many years. After Jerry retired, he gained another hobby of “junking” all of his money he made went back to missions or to those in need.

Survivors are his wife Jannette of the home, three sons Terry Ackley of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Eric Ackley and his wife Lori of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Chris Ackley and his wife Pam of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters Carol Paul and her husband Melvin of Grove, Oklahoma, Pamela Zickefoose and her husband Larry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren Tabitha, Tara, Shaun, Brian, Cory, Lynn, Jessica, Heaven, Hallie, Brooklyn, Collin, Amabel, Faith, Megan; nine great grandchildren Alysha, Lily, Trey, Hunter, Aubree, Hunter, Lily, Jack, Caleb and a host of other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Dorothy Ackley, one daughter Sarah Woosley and a sister Sandra Pack.
