Jerry Elwood Bohard passed from this life on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 57 years eight months and twenty three days. Jerry was born on November 7, 1953 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. He was the son of Johnny Elwood and Gladys (Brown) Bohard. As a young man Jerry began his education in Barnsdall. Jerry attended school thru high school in Barnsdall where he completed his education. Jerry has always felt that he was the ìbest basketball player from Barnsdall, Oklahomaî. Soon after he completed his education Jerry began working in the oil fields of Oklahoma. He initially gained employment with Brown Drilling where he worked for several years. He was later united in marriage to Deanna Raye Carl on November 5, 1970 in Hominy, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Hominy where they resided until 2003. Jerry and Deanna then moved to Enid, Oklahoma before returning to Hominy in 2007. Jerry has worked throughout Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas and Texas in the oil fields. He has also been employed for Cruzen Drilling, Precept Drilling, Bohard Drilling as well as Hughes Drilling prior to becoming disabled in 2007 when he retired. After Jerry retired he was able to do things that he loved most fishing any creek, pond or river that had water. Jerry also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren that meant the world to him. Jerry also spent numerous hours building things out of wooden popsicle stick, fixing bicycles for neighborhood kids and model cars. However, the most important part about Jerry was that he was a very loving, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed teasing people often. Survivors are his loving wife Deanna of the home, children Johnny Elwood Bohard of Hominy, Oklahoma, Stacy Deana Bohard of Hominy, Oklahoma; mother Gladys Smith of Ponca City, Oklahoma; four sisters Janet Cole of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Joan Jones of Hominy, Oklahoma, Bonnie Sawyers of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Lura Jaquess of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, one brother Johnny Bohard of Fairview, Oklahoma; grandchildren Fairy Bohard and Iva Clayton, Larry and Samantha Reeves; two great grandchildren Jaycee Bohard and Amayclyn Bohard as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Johnny Elwood Bohard and a son Jerry Edward Bohard, Jr. The body was cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland. There are currently no formal services planned.
