Jerrold Ray Stevenson, known to his friends and family as Jerry, passed from this life on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, ten months and eight days. Jerry was born on April 15, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Boyd ìSteveî and Billie Jean (Barnes) Stevenson. Jerry was raised in West Tulsa and following the completion of his education he began working in the plumbing industry. In 1968, Jerry started at Barry Carter Plumbing; later in 1969, Jerry worked at Quality Plumbing. Three years later in 1971, he accepted a position with Pendergraft Plumbing. In 1973, Jerry joined the United Association Of Journeymen And Apprentices Of The Plumbing And Pipe Fitting Local Union 430, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1976, Jerry opened Safeway Plumbing Company in Mannford, Oklahoma. During this time, Jerry built his two story house from the ground up. He completed this task with help from his friends and family with no blueprints except what was in his head. After several years of operating his own company Jerry returned to work at the Local 430 Union in 1982. Jerry was united in marriage to Marilyn Kaye (Hogan) on October 19, 1996. Jerry worked as a foreman for Palmer Plumbing Company until he was forced into retirement due to medical reasons in 2002. Jerry loved the great outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing. He has taken numerous trips throughout the United States and in the Summer of 2013, he and Marilyn took a eight week vacation traveling I-40 West to California. They also traveled North through the Redwood Forest. Visiting relatives, they extended their trip through Oregon and into Washington state before returning back to Oklahoma through Colorado. Jerry was also a Civil War buff as well as being well versed on early American History. Survivors are his wife Marilyn of the home; four children Jeffrey Stevenson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Deanna Stevenson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Larinda Losos and her husband Scott of Redmond, Washington and Sarah Hanna and her husband Stroth of Cleveland, Oklahoma; step children Melanie Hunter of Owasso, Oklahoma, Allison Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; father Steve Stevenson and his wife Doris of Terlton, Oklahoma; one brother Richard "Sonny" Stevenson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three sisters Opal "Snookie" Baker of Talala, Oklahoma; Donna Rupe of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stephanie Baker of Cushing, Oklahoma, grandchildren Kylar, Hanna, Kaden, Hanna and Kelainey Hanna as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Billie Smith, three brothers Jimmy Stevenson, Bobby Stevenson, Randy Smith as well as one sister Kristy Kidd-Barnhart. Church services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Westport Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Earley officiating. Private burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
