Jefferson Andrew Whitten, of Jennings, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the age of age 47 years, one month and eleven days. Jeff was born November 16, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Amos Daniel and Anne Marie (Jenni) Whitten. At a very young age Jeff moved with his parents to Cleveland, Oklahoma where he was raised and received his education. At the completion of his education Jeff began working in the oil patch for his father Dan. Jeff has also worked for Curt Brown Drilling, Eyler Drilling as well as Red Cloud Drilling. However, Jeff has worked with his father Dan at TAP Petroleum for the majority of his career. In 1996, Jeff returned to further his education at Tulsa Welding School always striving to become better in his field. Hard work was a major part of JeffÃs life and many have said, ìthe weather made no difference to Jeff.î In February of 1986, Jeff was united in marriage to Diana Lynn Goodwin at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. To that union there are three daughters Stephanie, Jessica and Alyssa. Jeff was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He loved hunting, fishing and also enjoyed making things out of leather. Vacations were always a given for the Whitten family. They would make their annual trip to MarVal Resort in Gore, Oklahoma on the Illinois River. One of the memorable trips was to Key West, Florida. Jeff was a very giving person. He would often go without to make sure others had what they needed. He always joked about raising three daughters but lost count how many others he had raised. Jeff enjoyed life to the fullest extent. He enjoyed taking his girls on outings and loved teaching them how to shoot guns. Jeff has always made the statement that the ìtrees, creek bed and the woods was his church.î Survivors are his three daughters Stephanie Brown of Glencoe, Oklahoma, Jessica Cheatham of Vista, California, Alyssa Whitten of Cleveland, Oklahoma, parents Dan and Anne Whitten of Cleveland, Oklahoma; granddaughter Liberty Anne Brown of Glencoe, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents. Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sandra Bach officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
