Janes E. Stegall

James E. Stegall, a resident of Hallett was born May 4, 1933 in Marshall Town, Iowa to James Elmer and Hazel Laura Stegall. As a young man James grew up in Marshall Town as well as Texas before moving with his family to Harrison, Arkansas. After James completed his education he was drafted into the service of his country on May 27, 1953. Upon entering the U.S. Army, Mr. Stegall was stationed with the 377th Transportation Company. After serving nearly two years James was honorably discharged on April 26, 1955.

Mr. Stegall returned to Harrison, Arkansas and soon moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. James was united in marriage to Ruby Emeline Dickey near Drumright, Oklahoma. Mr. Stegall was employed at several different places before accepting a position with National Tank in the early 1960ís. James continued to work for National Tank until 1984 when he retired as a machinist.

James enjoyed to fishing, hunting and playing his guitar. He also spent many hours reading western stories especially the ones written by Louis Lamour. Mr. Stegall liked to making recipes and working in his shop building things out of wood. James and Ruby would always attend church at home watching Pastor Arnold Murrary with the Shepherdís Chapel Church.

Mr. Stegall passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 in the Claremore Veterans Center at Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 7 months and 12 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a infant grandchild.

Survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; two daughters Marilyn Sue Stegall of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Peggy Shipman and husband Jim of Hallett, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Cynthia, Kristin, Kelli and Timothy; three great grandchildren, Jordyn, Connor and Braden as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
