James Roy Stamper, longtime resident of Terlton, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 58 years.
James was born November 8, 1957, in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He was the son of Harold Robert and Doris Marie (Spivey) Stamper. As a young child James moved with his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. While residing in Bartlesville, James began attending kindergarten and later moved with his family to Terlton. James began his freshman year at Cleveland High School and later graduated with the Class of 1976. Following graduation James began working at Ray Harper Electrical. On April 20, 1979, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, James was united in marriage to Tina Marie Harvey. The couple established their home in Terlton where they have continued to reside. James later began working for Gate City which later became Valmont for over 15 years. He has also been employed at Bill Jac, American Tank Cleaning and was last employed at Walmart until he was forced to retire due to health reasons.
James loved to be with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors especially fishing and hunting. James also spent many hours sitting under the carport visiting. James loved the times he was coaching his boy’s baseball teams and teaching them the things he knew. James played softball and loved the comradery with his family and friends. James will be deeply missed by his Jelly Bean, boy’s, grandchildren and family who loved him very much.
Survivors are his wife Tina of the home, four sons Aaron James Stamper and his wife Kendall of Terlton, Oklahoma, Jordan Keith Stamper of Terlton, Oklahoma, Joshua Lane Stamper and his wife Sasha of Terlton, Oklahoma, Andrew Micah Stamper and his wife Taylor of Terlton, Oklahoma, mother Doris Stamper of Terlton, Oklahoma, step grandmother Iva Jean Raymon of Sedan, Kansas; siblings Robert Stamper of Terlton, Oklahoma, Debbie and Kenny Kelsey of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cindy Stamper-West of Terlton, Oklahoma, Tammy and Doug Collins of Stillwater, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren Evan James, Daisy Jayden, Gunner Aaron, Gatlin Buck, Dayton Michael, Daryn Tyler, Henley Dawn, Addison Marie, Ellie Mae and a host of other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his father Harold Robert Stamper.
Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Harvey officiating. Visitation will be held at Chapman-Black Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm. The body will be cremated and later interred in the Terlton Cemetery.
