James Roy Martin passed from this life on February 13, 2022, at the age of 76.
Jim was born on August 16, 1945, at Effingham, Illinois the son of Roy W. and Mary Alice (McKinney) Martin. Jim grew up and attended school in southern Illinois. During his Junior year Jim moved with his family to Hominy graduating with the Class of 1963. Following high school Jim attended college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater graduating with a degree in radiation technology. On July 31, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Vicki Irene Shoup in Hominy. Jim gained employment with Environmental Protection Agency in Las Vegas, Nevada. Returning to Skiatook in 1978 where they made their home. Jim accepted a position with Ceja Corp retiring in 2011.
Jim volunteered with Prue Volunteer Fire Department retiring after 25 years. Woodworking, hunting, working at the gun show, watching westerns and texting his grandkids were some of Jim's favorite things to do.
Survivors are his wife Vicki of the home, three children Wendi Lewis and husband Doug of Clinton, Oklahoma, Traci Large and husband Bert of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Brad Martin and his wife Becky of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two siblings Bob Martin of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Mary Pottorff and husband Ken of Flora, Illinois; four grandchildren Brian and his wife Roxy, Brandon and his wife Taylor, Seth, Maddie; two great grandchildren Bennett and Nathan as well as a host of other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mary Alice Martin.
Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Family has requested memorial donations be made in honor of Jim to Oklahoma Blood Institute or Oklahoma Heart Association. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
