James Pennington

James Lee Pennington passed from this life on Thursday, October 22, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years, one month and twenty three days.

Jim was born on August 30, 1945, in Greenville Mississippi. He was the son of Duane Pennington and Imogene (Sewell) Logan. At a young age Jim moved to Arkansas and then later to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim started kindergarten in Tulsa and attended school at Park Elementary, Clinton Junior High and graduated from Webster High School with the Class of 1962. Following graduation Jim joined the United States Air Force On August 12, 1963. Jim remained active until he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on August 11, 1967. Upon his discharge Jim remained in Maryland working in the postal system until 1972. At that time Jim returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was later united in marriage to Olive Esther Faulkner. The two established their home in Hallett where they have continued to reside. Jim worked at the IGA in Cleveland as a butcher from 1972 till 1987. He then gained employment with the Turnpike Authority as a tollgate attendant. In November of 2007, Jim retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

Jim enjoyed fishing when time permitted. As well as playing video games for hours at a time.

Survivors are his wife Esther of the home; two brothers Larry Logan of Perkins, Oklahoma, Jerry Logan of Graham, Texas; one sister Sue Lincks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma with Wilbur Wooten officiating. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
