James Leslie Young

James Leslie Young, 79, of Oilton, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

James was born January 18, 1939, in rural Osage County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charles "Doc" Harold and Alma Marie (Haliburton) Young. James was raised and received his education in the Old Mannford and later moved to Terlton with his family where he graduated with the Class of 1958, from Terlton High School. Following high school, James joined the United States Marines and was united in marriage to Linda Lois Younger on December 24, 1958, in Terlton, Oklahoma. James was stationed at Oceanside, California at Camp Pendleton. He honorably served his country until September 3, 1961. James and Linda returned to Oilton for a short time before moving to Muskogee. During that time James received training as a plumber and pipefitter. They returned to Oilton where he has continued to reside. James was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 344 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. James has worked throughout the United States working on several nuclear and electrical plants.

James loved being with his family especially his grandkids that he loved dearly. He was also a perpetual remodeler. James also loved to play practical jokes on others. He has also been a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Oilton.

Survivors are two children Shelley Sherman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jimmie Young of Oilton, Oklahoma; siblings Danny Young of Mannford, Oklahoma, Albert Young of Oilton, Oklahoma, Joyce Worsham of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Roger Young of Oilton, Oklahoma, six grandchildren Christina Rhotenberry, Baylee Sherman, Kasey Young, Ashley Henckel, Austin Young, Andi Clemens; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, brother Carl Ray “Bud” Young, two sisters Ida G. “Jerry” Messick, Betty J. Stites and an infant child James Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the First Assembly of God Church in Yale, Oklahoma with Pastor Marty Younger officiating.
