James Henry Maier

James Henry Maier a resident of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 56 years 5 months and 12 days.

James was born July 31, 1950 in White Plains, New York the son of Donald and Margaret Johanna (Drader) Maier. James was raised and received his education in Newfield, New York. After graduation from high school James entered into the service of his county joining the United States Navy. James was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Maier in Claremore, Oklahoma on October 11, 1975. After James was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy he and Beverly established their home in Oolagah, Oklahoma. James and Beverly continued to reside in Oolagah for several years. During this time James was employed in Claremore, Oklahoma building farm equipment. James later gained employment with Crosby McKissick in Tulsa as a drill press operator. After a couple of years James accepted a position with Wm. Heightgrass working as a warehouse shipping and receiving clerk. In 1994, James and Beverly moved to Hominy, Oklahoma. While living in Hominy, James accepted employment with Cupidís Clothing. James continued to work at Cupidís until the closure of the operation in early 2000.

James enjoyed spending his time wood working, fishing on Skiatook Lake at Bull Creek, taking long walks and cooking. Mr. Maier especially enjoyed making dishes that were Italian or very spicy. He also cherished the time spent with his family, friends and two grandchildren. Mr. Maier was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hominy as well as a DAV Member.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly of the home; daughter, Charlotte Lowry of Hominy, Oklahoma; two brothers, Daniel Maier of Glenmont, New York; Thomas Maier of Collinsville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Donna Brewer of Oolagah, Oklahoma; Brenda Ward of Latham, New York; father and mother Donald and Marge Maier of Newfield, New York; paternal grandmother, Mary Maier of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Tayla and Tayton Lowry of Hominy, Oklahoma as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Friday, January 19, 2007 in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in the Wann Cemetery in Oolagah, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
