Services James Sumrall of Mannford will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 28, 2003 at the Chapman-Black Chapel with Rev. Randy Lynn officiating. Burial will be at Terlton Cemetery with Military Honors.

James Aaron Sumrall, of Mannford was born December 24, 1924 in Dallas, Texas to Charles D. and Nina E. (Mizell) Sumrall. As a young child James grew up and attended school in the Dallas, Texas area. James started to work as a young child to help his family. At the onset of World War II he joined the United States Navy. During his time in the military he was onboard two different ships that were both hit. The last ship that James was on he was wounded when it was hit. James spent time at the in U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Upon his return from the military he gained employment with Dowell Oil as a diesel mechanic. During his time with Dowell he moved to many different places. In 1956 he moved to Texas and in 1966 James moved to Oklahoma. In 1981 James moved to Mannford where he has lived since.

James loved to work on cars in his spare time and he was a member of the Terlton Baptist Church as well as a member of the VFW Post 1320 in Sapulpa.

James passed away May 25, 2003 at his home in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years 5 months and 1 day. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Ann, three brothers and two sisters.

Survived by his six children, Sue Lee of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Kate Battles Payne and husband Michael of Birmingham, Alabama; James Eli Sumrall of Mannford, Oklahoma; Lee D. Parks and husband Pat of Onalaska, Texas; Nancy Barnes and husband Cliff of Gilmer, Texas; Rodney Box and wife Billie Jo of Franklin, Texas; three brothers, Bobby Sumrall of Ft. Worth, Texas; John Sumrall of Vandalia, Missouri; Billy Jack Sumrall of Claremore, Oklahoma; two sisters, Helen Ferguson of Huntsville, Texas; Elaine Ridley of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
