Jackie Denvalee Freeman age 86 departed this world to be with her lord and savior on July 1, 2012. She was born December 29, 1925 in Osage, Oklahoma to Virgil Jackson Shipman and Mary Tennessee (Ragland) Shipman. She was the fourth of eleven children. She began her school years in Boston Pool, and then transferred to Osage. She was reared in Oklahoma except for a short time when her family moved to Missouri. At the age of 16 Jackie met her future husband while visiting relatives in Arkansas. A few weeks later she married Earl M. Freeman in Marshall, Arkansas on July 7th, 1942. During WWII, Jackie moved to Kansas to be with her military husband. After EarlÃs honorable discharge in November of 1945, they moved back to Arkansas to the Morning Star Community. In 1951 the family moved to Marshall, Arkansas where Jackie owned and operated a cafÈ and was among the first to serve minorities. She refused to serve anyone at her back door and insisted they sit inside. In 1953 she and family moved to Atwater, California and then to Osage, Oklahoma where in the fall she began her commutes to Hominy to work at Munsingwear. She later owned and operated with two of her sisters the ìThree Sisters CafÈî in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Between her career choices she was a stay at home mom to her three children. Her next endeavor took her to Beauty school and she became the owner of a Beauty Shop in Osage. She later worked for Pawnee County Health Department in Cleveland and then began her employment with family at Guinn Electric, where she remained until retirement. She and her husband moved to Cleveland in 1994 and she was often seen at Christmas time ringing the bell for the Salvation Army where she also served as secretary. After retirement Jackie continued working as a caretaker, staying with those in need. Jackie was a member of the First Assembly of God church, a devoted Christian who loved her family, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her smile was contagious, her laughter loud. She was famous among her family for her Thanksgiving Turkey and dressing, Cream pies, Raisin pies and Chocolate Gravy. She crocheted, made quilts and painted in her spare time. Jackie and Earl were within 6 days of celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Her home showcased pictures of family, her collections of Cupie Babies and her beloved eagles and her family sends her off with love to sore among the angles. Jackie Denvalee Freeman is survived by her husband, Earl M. Freeman of the home, daughters Earlene Guinn and husband David of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Janie Wagnon and husband Gene of Bella Vista, Arkansas, daughter-in-law, Ann Freeman, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Dale Guinn, Steve Guinn, Tracy Stowell, Robert L. Freeman, Jr., Kevin Freeman, Tiffany Lucas and David Wagnon, 15 great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, sister Gayle Smith of Cleveland, brothers Charles Shipman of Texas, Keith Shipman of Texas and Mike Shipman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, sisters in law Carol Shipman of Stroud, Oklahoma and Ruby Shipman of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Robert Lee Freeman, grandson James D. Lucas, brothers Bobby, Buford and V. J. Shipman and sisters Wilma Shipman, Muriel Buchannan and Joy Johnston. Services will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Chapman Black Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
