Jack Edward Brown, 72, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed from this life on March 21, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Jack was born on February 5, 1947, at Ft. Worth, Texas. He was the son of Martin Gilford and Roberta Modine (Scott) Brown. Jack grew up in the Henryetta and Salem area. Graduating from Graham High School with the Class of 1966. Following high school, Jack joined the United States Army. He served his time in Vietnam with the 90th Replenishment Battalion. During his time in the military, he was awarded the following decorations and citations: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Specialist Brown was honorably discharged on March 9, 1969. He returned to the Tulsa area and gained employment as a driver for Squaw. Later worked at Unit Rig and for the past 38 years has worked for Evans Electric as a delivery driver.
Jack loved being with his grandchildren. Most of the time Jack was out he always seemed to have several of his grandkids with him. He liked tinkering on cars and working in his garden. During his younger days, Jack was known for his roller-skating skills. He always liked going to eat at the Hickory House and the Golden Corral restaurant. Family gatherings and cookouts were special times for Jack. Jack also loved to tease and aggravate his family and friends. However, Jack had a heart of gold and would help others without ever wanting anything back in return.
Survivors include his four children Vicky Zetina and her husband Jose of Mannford, Oklahoma, Sheila Bradley of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Sherry Banos and her husband Moises of Sperry, Oklahoma, Angelina Brown of Sperry, Oklahoma, seven siblings Joyce Kaler of Salem, Oklahoma, Paul Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carol Morenos of Dallas, Texas, Bobby Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Jerry Brown of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Jane of Checotah, Oklahoma, Billy Brown of Texas; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister Wanda Lou Brown; brother Ray Brown, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Mark Sorenson presiding. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Chapman-Black Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
