Imogene Hankla was born August 2, 1922 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Francis Marion and Iva Mae Cockrell. She moved with her family at an early age to Cleveland where she attended school through the ninth grade. She then moved to Colcord, Oklahoma.
While in Colcord while attending a party, Imogene met the love of her life, Ted Hankla and the couple was soon married on August 9, 1939 in Jay, Oklahoma.
The couple later moved to their home west of Cleveland where they resided until Ted preceded her in death on February 28, 2005 after sixty-five years of marriage.
Imogene was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Cleveland. She passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twelve days. In addition to her husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, F.M. Cockrell, Jr. and Donald Ray Cockrell; and four sisters, Ruth, Thelma, Cleo and Norma.
She is survived by a sister, Hattie Crosier of Tennessee and a good friend Glynn Mason as well as seventeen nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Ted Herold, Sr. officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
