 Ima Jean Smith passed from this life on January 24, 2024, at the age of 96, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jean was born on March 12, 1927, in Crockett, Texas.  She was the daughter of Wiley and Annie Beulah (Julian) Morgan.  Jean grew up in Grapeland, Texas, and completed her education at Grapeland High School.  Jean was united in marriage to Preston Courtney, and the couple resided in the Grapeland area.  In 1959, Jean moved to Belle Plaine, Kansas, and worked for the Civil Defense.  Jean later attended college for two years, studying sociology in Wichita, Kansas.  In 1961, Jean moved to Yale, Oklahoma, and during that time, attended beauty college in Stillwater.  After graduating from beauty school, Jean opened and owned her shop.  Jean received training in social and rehabilitative services in Enid and later started working at the nursing home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the 1970s.  On August 6, 1983, Jean was united in marriage to Donald Smith, and they made their home in Stillwater.  In 1985, Jean and Don moved to Killeen, Texas, before residing in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Jean and Don returned to Texas briefly before making their home in Cleveland in the early 1990's.  

Jean enjoyed sewing, camping, and flower gardening.  Jean and Don also enjoyed traveling and camping in their travel trailer with their friends.  She also enjoyed cooking, and her expertise was making rum cake.  

Survivors are her two sons, Jerry Lorett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wiley Lorett and wife Sarah of Yale, Oklahoma; stepchildren Gary Smith and wife Julie of Antlers, Oklahoma; Jerri Cooper of Berryville, Arkansas, Pamela Jackson of Berryville, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, twenty great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don Smith, grandson Donnie Lorett, daughter-in-law Ann Lorett, and granddaughter-in-law Tina Lorett.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, with Pastor David Head officiating. A burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery at Cleveland, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
