Hubert Kastning

Doye Hubert Kastning, known to many as Huey, was born February 23, 1927 in Gainesville, Missouri. He was the son of Charles Frank and Rosa Eula Kastning. Huey was raised on a farm north of Gainesville, Missouri and attended school in Gainesville.

Upon completion of his education, Huey worked in various capacities in the oilfields, as a truck driver and in the exterminating business. For many years he operated the Phillips 66 service station and later convenience store in Hominy. During this time he was also known to friends and acquaintances in the area by his CB handle, Joker. Most recently, Huey was been self-employed in the lawn care business.

During his life, Huey resided in several areas including Wichita and Kansas City, but Osage and Pawnee Counties have primarily been his home. He lived in Hominy, Osage (for nearly eight years), Cleveland and for the past year in Jennings.

Huey was married to Sandra Dusty Rood on April 3, 2003 in Miami, Oklahoma. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed playing pool and was an excellent craftsman. Huey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osage.

He passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at his home in Jennings at the age of seventy-eight years and twenty-nine days. Huey was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Richard Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Dusty Kastning, of the home; six children, Ronnie Kastning of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Calvin Kastning of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Delores Bannon of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Kastning of Wichita, Kansas, Anita Martinez of Wichita, Kansas and Rita Trumbly of Hominy, Oklahoma; a close family friend, Sheryl Adams of Cleveland, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Annabelle Finfrock of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 25, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Osage with Pastor Dean Switzer officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
