Herbert Harry Wilson

Herbert H. Wilson better known to his friends and family as Herb was born December 30, 1928 in Porter, Oklahoma the son of Clifford E. and Nellie (Gilbert) Wilson. As a young boy Herb grew up in the Porter and Coweta area and also in Wyoming. As a young man Herb and his brother and cousins began working in their uncles saw mill hauling logs down Big Horn Mountain in Wyoming. He also worked on the pipeline and became known as ìa Jack of All Tradesî. Herb then gained employment with Maloney Crawford Tank as a crane and plate roll operator. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Boilermaker Union and an employee for Maloney Crawford Tank for 31 years. During a short lay off, Herb went to work for Kerr Glass where he met and married Geneva L. Varnell on January 15, 1955 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After the plant shut down of Kerr Glass Mr. Wilson accepted a position with Hissom Memorial Center. Herb continued to work for Hissom until his retirement in 1992. Herb and Geneva have made their home in Sand Springs, and the Sapulpa area where they have raised their two children Kim and Pat.

After retirement from Hissom, Herb and Geneva moved to the Terlton area in 1993. This allowed Herb to do the things that he loved most; fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, selling watermelon and anything that could keep his hands busy. This is also where his Jack of all trades and master of none came in handy. Mr. Wilson was a kind, generous, selfless and loving man who enjoyed his life and loved for the Lord. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Oak Hill Church of Keystone Lake where he enjoyed fellowship with his church family. Herb was a true and trusted friend to all. However most of all Herb enjoyed being with his family that he loved dearly.

On December 16, 2005, Mr. Wilson suffered a stroke during surgery. After a long and hard battle he left this world Friday, June 15, 2007 at his home, at the age of 78, to claim his mansion in the sky. Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers Lawrence, Hairm and Everett.

Survivors include his loving wife, Geneva of 52 years; one daughter Kim Calls Him of Osage, one son Pat Wilson and wife Sheila of Dardanelle, Arkansas; eight grandchildren Neal Rough Face, Sage Calls Him and Lindsey Guinn all of Osage, Oklahoma; Christopher, P.J. and Dakota Wilson all of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Heather and Michael Wilson all of Minnesota; three great grandchildren, numerous brothers and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends that mourn his passing.
