Helen D Winton was born December 15, 1925 in Ramona, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Truman and Mayola (Lomax) Gray. As a young girl Helen grew up and attended school in Ramona. Following the completion of her education Helen helped her family by taking care of her siblings. On February 16, 1947, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Helen was united in marriage to Leroy Winton. They established their initial home in Broken Arrow and later moved to California for a short time. They returned to Tulsa where they raised their children. In 1996, Helen and Leroy moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma. Helen resided in Skiatook until September of 2012 when she moved to the Baptist Village in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Helen loved shopping on QVC. Helen and Leroy would travel to bluegrass festivals no matter where they might be located. She also loved going to the Winton and Gray Reunions. Helen was very involved at the Church of God of Prophecy. Helen taught Vacation Bible School, she was a missionary leader and church treasurer for many years. Many have called her a real prayer warrior. Helen loved going to watch her grandkids at their school and sporting events. Helen was a wonderful cook and always made everyoneís favorite pie or dish for them to eat. She was also a wonderful seamstress and even made her daughter Margaretís wedding dress. Helenís most important part of life was her Lord and Saviour. She lived a Christian life and instilled those traits in her children and grandchildren to follow the Lord. Helen passed from this life on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 87 years, four months and ten days. Survivors are her two children Bob Winton and his wife Jeannie of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Margaret Garrison and her husband Ralph of Cleveland, Oklahoma, four sisters Ruby Mitchell of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Linda Hughes of Tyler, Texas, Fran Henson of Alamo, Texas, Kathy Gray of Alamo, Texas; four grandchildren Amy O'Hair, Kimberly Spires, Kendall Johns, Kyle Winton; seven great grandchildren Kyler, Josiah, Peighton, Cole, Hannah, Garrison, Griffin. In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Winton, four brothers Johnny Gray, JR Gray, Kenneth Gray and David Gray. Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Head and Rev. Mike OíHair officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow at 10:00 am, Tuesday under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
