Hazel Ruth Trim

Hazel Ruth Trim, longtime Hominy resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and twenty-four days.

Hazel was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on March 29, 1916. She was the daughter of Harvey Ray and Ova Mary Thompson. Hazel was raised and attended school in Hominy. She was married to Morris Trim on October 25, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After their marriage, the couple made their initial home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hazel returned to Hominy during World War II to be near her family,, as Morris was serving his country. After the war they moved around for a few years before settling in Hominy for good.

Hazel was employed by the Hominy Public Schools as a cook in the cafeteria for many years. She later accepted employment with the Pioneer where she worked as a clerk for nearly twenty years.

Hazel was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hominy. She was also an active member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in Hominy. Hazel loved to sew and often made her children their clothing while they were growing up. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Hazel and Morris enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively throughout the world. She was very fond of gospel music and particularly enjoyed the Gaiters, watching them every Saturday night. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They considered her as the kindest Mother who loved each of them dearly. Morris preceded her in death on August 4, 1993. In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lottie Mae, Rosie Margaret and Helen Marie; and three brothers, John Burl, Willie and Willard.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Rosa Lee and Jerry Snow of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Shirley Ruth and Charles Clanton of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and Sue and Bob Martin of Los Alamos, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Beth Ann Bland of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Cynthia Ruth Patton of German Corner, Oklahoma, Barbara Sue Potter of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Melinda Marie Williams of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Charla Sue and her husband, Richard Albright of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Bret and Jinger Martin of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Chad and Tyler Martin of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Jerod Martin of Charleston, South Carolina; twenty great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Nellie Lenora O'Kief of Hominy, Oklahoma, Juanita Darlene Dolan of White Marsh, Virginia and Ouida Seaton of Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 27, 2003 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hominy with Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
